Does anyone have experience of running EPICS on IOCs which use more than one
network interface?
For the Gemini 8m Telescopes it is intended that there will be multiple networks
available, for different types of data. Control information will use Ethernet,
but some parts of the system will be generating and transferring large amounts
of image data. The intention is for these and other large data items to be sent
over an FDDI, thus avoiding putting any significant load and hence delays on the
control LAN which needs to provide a real-time response.
Does anyone have any experience of this kind of approach? What must be thought
about in the detailed system design? I know that vxWorks will work with 2 nets;
will EPICS?
