Folks,

I have written a new EPICS extension called ezcaIDL.

ezcaIDL is a library of routines for IDL and PV-WAVE which provides an
interface to EPICS Channel Access through the news EZCA library. It is intended
to replace the existing CaWave extension. ezcaIDL has been built and tested on
sun4, solaris, SGI, and AXP/VMS systems with IDL. It has not yet been tested
with PV-WAVE.

I will be sending a tar file to the APS so that it can be included in a future
release of EPICS. Meantime the documentation is available as follows:

http://cars1.uchicago.edu/software/ezcaIDLGuide.html ! User's Guide
http://cars1.uchicago.edu/software/ezcaIDLRef.html ! Reference Manual

The package can be obtained from:
ftp://cars1.uchicago.edu/pub/epics/ezcaIDL.tar.Z

The Makefile.Unix assumes that some definitions for compiling and linking
shareable objects have been added to config/CONFIG_SITE.Unix.arch. You can get
my modified CONFIG.Unix.arch files from:
ftp://cars1.uchicago.edu/pub/epics/config.tar.Z

I would appreciate any feedback on problems encountered.
