We (LANL/DX-11) are running EPICS on 5.2 and we have not seen any problems.
We didn't find it necessary to re-compile EPICS (3.12) or our applications.
The hypertext help utility is one of the best new features I have seen.
Our 5.2 installation went smoothly except for two problems:
First, the distribution doesn't include the BSP support. WRS expected
us to use the BSP from 5.1(.1). Second, we could not read the
VxGDB tape. We are waiting for WRS to send a new distribution on CD-ROM.
We originally requested CD-ROM, but our request didn't get to the
right person.
The GNU Toolkit is now separated from 5.2. We had to make some minor
modifications to our Makefiles to use cc68k & ld68k, but the paths in the
Makefiles are a lot cleaner now.
