IMHO there should be a way of being able to put _something_ on a display which
tells you without having to move a mouse whether you have write access to a
system. The most obvious way I can think of would be to incorporate access
permissions into the colour rules of the individual controllers somehow. If this
isn't easy/logical though you must still be able to design a screen where you can
tell at a glance in which of a small number of access groups this client appears.
It would be good to change the mouse cursor as well for those who haven't defined
a suitable colour rule. I also agree with Chip that if you have read-only access
you must be able to see what the current setting is from a controller rather than
just a "Write Access Denied" box.
