By default such things should be displayed and configured
in hex?
I wonder if this really belongs in a device specific
configuration system (which does not exist). It would
be nice if the device driver author optionally specified
some information about the configuration parameters that
it needs in an ascii file (ie data type, description,
ranges etc for each parameter). During initialization the
device driver would be provided with optional read access
to a list of these parameters via some API.
