I got base built, and managed to build extensions against it.  It all seems
to works, but I've noticed something unusual.

I'm using a slight modification of the examples database that was included
in the release.  (the only modification is to increase the range of values
generated by the calc record)  I've got a little dm (v2.2) screen with 3
monitors of different types looking at the aiExample record.  The calc
record is scanning 1/second and is forward linked to the ai record.

On the dm screen I would normally expect to see the value change once/second.
What I'm seeing is that frequently an update won't happen for 3 or 4 seconds.
When it does happen it jumps to the (apparently) correct number.

This is on a sun4 environment, SPARCstation 5, ioc is mv167/8mb, 25MHz.
AFAIK the network is lightly loaded.

Has anyone seen anything like this.  I could swear that before (on older
releases) I've always seen a nice smooth update rate when watching a changing
pv.  'Tis a puzzlement.
