****** SOSH 97 ---- FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT *******


  There will be a Software Sharing Workshop in Vancouver following the
PAC 97 
  conference.  This workshop is part of a series of workshops aimed at
fostering 
  the reuse of software within the accelerator and detector controls
communities.

  Date:     May 19,20, 1997
  Location: Hotel Vancouver

  Topics to be addressed in this workshop:

        Portable / shareable control applications
          Generic: operator interfaces, data management, ...
          Domain specific: modeling, steering, ...              
        High level interfaces to device control
        Graphical user interfaces and libraries
        Distributed computing
        Error reporting

  Contributions are sought which highlight the use of leading edge
technologies, 
  including C++, Java, CORBA, OLE, PC platforms (Win95 and NT), and the
use of 
  commercial solutions.
  Abstracts and topics suggestions should be submitted to
watson@jlab.org
  by February 28th, 1997.
