The save set archiver is ready for alpha testing. It
will produce reboot files (with a specified number of backups)
either on change, periodically and/or on demand. It
will produce named save sets (with a single backup) on
demand. The document is partially complete and should
be available on the LANL WWW page soon. Saving data sets
to disk is also working with only partial data retrieval
capability. The save/restore files are meant to be compatible
with the existing routines. The new files also support
arrays (however this is untested).
The frequency archiver - soon to be renamed the channel
archiver - will undergo a test next week to determine if the
file format could be optimized for saving data and still meet
the performance goals for retrieval. If you are using this in
a production environment, we may need to develop a filter
for converting between formats.
All feedback welcome.....
Bob
