pop-up menu problems in MEDM 2.3.4a

The pop-up menus (MEDM "menu" object) in the latest MEDM 
release (MEDM 2.3.4a) are coming up *behind* the window instead 
of in front of the window.  This happens when the MEDM is 
running from a             Sun Solaris 2.5.1 UNIX server
and being displayed on a   WinNT 4.0 PC & Win95 PC & Win98 PC
running                    Micro XWin32 (X window server) from Starnet
Communications.  

Since the pop-up menus worked correctly in MEDM 2.3.3 with the 
same configurations, don't anybody suggest to replace the 
X window server with <favorite X window server here>.  

Isn't there a generic fix for this sort of problem?
What could have changed in the new MEDM version to introduce this problem?

I also see the problem on WinNT 4.0 PC running the Sun Solstice 
Network Client 3.1 X window server.  However, SNC has had this problem
with *every* MEDM that has come out.
