Has anyone tried using the portable Channel Access Server on a VxWorks IOC
(one that isn't running EPICS)? The R3.13.1 build I've got has the
beginnings of a CAS version for VxWorks (in src/cas/build/multiThread), but
it's clearly labeled as a work-in-progress, and as is I can't get the thing
to compile.
Some background, for anyone interested:
I've got a CA Server application running on Windows NT to serve data from
our Modicon 984 PLCs into our EPICS system, getting its data using Modbus+
and an SA85 card in the PC. We're upgrading to Quantum PLCs that'll be
doing Modbus protocol over ethernet, and at the same time I'd like to move
my CA Server app to a VxWorks IOC for greater reliability. I like NT, but
it does the "Blue Screen of Death" with depressing regularity.
I'd like to use VxWorks+CAS rather than VxWorks+EPICS+databases, btw,
because I'd like to have multiple PLC data servers for reduncancy, and it's
much easier for me to add a load-sharing/fail-over system to my CAS
application than to the EPICS base.
