You might be interested to know about the "Generic GPIB record" which I wrote.
This record has fields for all of the GPIB communication parameters (address,
output and input fields, etc.) so you can configure communication at run-time
(e.g. from a client) rather than having to configure everything at build time.
It is very useful for establishing initial communication, testing your
device, etc.
