I would like to point out another problem of the dfanout record. The Record
Reference Manual says that the VAL field is "double" but in fact it is
"long". I think the record would be much more useful if the field were in
fact "double". Would this break anything for anyone? It seems that a
double can exactly represent a "long" on all supported IOCs? I have had to
create a "ddfanout" record to have a "dfanout" but with a "double" VAL
field.
