Subject: scan tasks and monitors???

Hello,

I have an EPICS database configured that consists of
an image record, a general subroutine record and some other
records for glue logic. The image record grabs an image and the general
subroutine record does centroiding on the image. This is in a 0.5
second scan task but the processing actually takes 2 to 5 seconds
to complete. I attach a monitor to an "ao" record to output
the number of frames grabbed and the result is that the
client does not see the monitor updates. We believe this
is because the embedded processor is always busy executing
the scan task.

The thing that is interesting though is that when I disable
the processing of these records after n images have been
processed all n monitors come out to the client workstation.
I am interest to know if there is anyway to make the monitors
not cache and just return the last one sent from the embedded
system and through away ones that the processor does not have
time to output. Of course when I slow the scan task to say 5 seconds
all monitors come out but my processing is always at 5 seconds
rate now.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Len
