Hi all -
the 1.3.3 release of the CA Proxy Gateway is available. It is a
optimization release, i.e. there are no bug fixes and no changes in
functionality, configuration or user interface.
1.3.3 contains a fix in the Gateway code and an additional patch for the
base the Gateway is built against that _dramatically_ increase the
client-to-Gateway connection performance. (We have seen clients
connecting more than 5 times faster - even large panels or alarm
handlers with many channels now connect almost instantly.) Also the
Gateway-induced load on the DNS service has been reduced.
Another hint: The regexp library that you need for the Gateway is by
default compiled without optimization. Recompile it using CFLAGS=-O3 on
the make command line to get a smaller and faster library image, then
re-link the Gateway.
As always - download tars and install instructions can be found on the
Gateway's web page: http://www-csr.bessy.de/control/SoftDist/Gateway/
(It is still important to follow the instructions closely!)
People with access to the APS repository may check out the sources in
epics/extensions/src/gateway using the tag "Gateway1_3_3".
Happy connecting!
Ralph
