Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System

If you're really really interested, you also might want to look at the
lengthy tech-talk thread starting with
http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/tech-talk/2002/msg00186.php
for a more in-depth discussion of drive limitation issues.
But to make your screen work - Pete's answer was what you were most
probably looking for.
Use DRVH & DRVL so that the database rejects out of range values
rather than relying on the client application to do this.
I have noticed that in EDM the text control seems to accept any value
given to it by the user, regardless of whether it is outside
of HOPR or
LOPR. Is there some way to fix this, or a workaround that
other people
have?
I'm assuming for the moment that we need a user screen to
reject output
outside normal parameters (e.g. for a 0-10 scale, 30000 is
right out.).
I notice that the slider control can pop up a text box when
clicked, and
this respects HOPR and LOPR. Is there some way to make the
text control
do this?
Thanks,
Gavin Smith.
