Following the tradition of computer support personnel everywhere I will
answer a question - with another question :-]
That depends on the address of the IOC that you wish to connect to!
1) If the soft IOC is on the same IP subnet as the client then you can set
EPICS_CA_AUTO_ADDR_LIST=YES and not set EPICS_CA_ADDR_LIST (this is the
default).
2) If it is on a different IP subnet then set EPICS_CA_ADDR_LIST to the
broadcast address of the soft IOC's subnet (if your routers are configured
to permit this) or to the IP address of the host that you wish to connect
to.
The proper value for EPICS_CA_SERVER_PORT should be the same port number
that you have configured the server in your soft IOC to use (the default is
5064).
The CA reference manual can also be consulted concerning these issues.
