Hi Bill,
I know our beamline guys are using a large number of Phoenix controllers
(don't know if they use the same type as you).
They access them through the EPICS OPC Gateway and an OPC server from
Phoenix, which seems to run reliably.
At last year's EPICS Meeting at SLAC I was giving a talk about their
system including performance numbers and email addresses of the contact
persons here at BESSY.
