There's nothing unique about the Linux 2.6 kernel series, we've been 
using it for ages (I'm currently on 2.6.14-1.1656_FC4, Fedora Core 4) 
with no special settings.

There must be something else funny in your configuration - do your IOC's 
broadcast addresses match those of the Linux system?  (run ifShow on vx 
and /sbin/ifConfig -a on linux)
