As Maren mentioned, Medm has strip charts.
The strip charts widget:
* display an ai-type record (single value PV) instead of a waveform
* uses time on its X axis
* does not make previous sample values accessible in epics database
* cannot be stopped
Not sure it fits all of your requirements, but it may be an option.
