edm font file

All,

I am relatively new to edm.
when I start it on one of my machine, I get the following error:
Font init failed - abort

I remember starting in the past edm on that machine.
But I probably played with the fonts.list file since then.
How do I generate that file in the first place?

xlsfonts -fn "*-*-*-*-*-*" ?
(xls font server is running on fedora core 4)

I have EDMFONTFILE pointing to the fonts.list file I want to use.
EDMFILE is set to the file's directory. Whatever I do with the
environment, it complains about the Font.


Any idea where the error could be coming from?
