Subject: Another question about mbboDirect record

There was a short discussion of the mbboDirect record in march 2007 but I have found another thing about it that is annoying. It is that monitors are not posted on the bits, making the bits of the record behave differently from a collection of bo records from the point of view of edm. If you set a bo record the change will be reflected on any screen displaying controls for it but if you set one of the bits of an mbbo record that will not be the case.

The previous discussion mentioned the role of the bits in the possible closed loop operation of the mbboDirect record. I would propose that in closed loop operation the bit monitors not be posted since they would be inconsistent and not meaningful. However, in supervisory mode, for which I would argue the record must have been designed, it would be useful to have the bits post monitors. This would enable single mbboDirect records to be used rather than groups of bo records in many cases.
