Title: Re: epics GUIs (update)
At the Canadian Light Source we have three main options....
We use EDM for many of our screens.
We have developed many of our higher level applications (mostly beamline endstation data acquisition/visualization applications) based on a series of inhouse QT interface libraries. These are extensions to QT. We have shared these with a few other labs that have asked, we don't have them on our ftp site, however if there is interest we are more than happy to do that. For the more complex data visualization we have libraries that stream the data into root (from CERN) with a few CLS specific customizations that tie the root and QT applications together.
We have also been working on ScienceStudio (www.sciencestudio.ca) that can be used to operate an EPICS based beamline from within a web-browser. The GUI aspect is a small part of ScienceStudio, it is intended to be a experiment management system that provides integration with data storage, scheduling and sample management. IF you are interested let me know and we can provide you with access to the source code.

Hello again,
I am trying to develop GUIs for a small epics control system (end-user
station). I am familiar with edm, medm, but am looking for something
which is more recent and slick.
Those days Channel Access have been developed for several 3rd party
programs (python, perl, matlab among others). Do those languages offer
easy GUI-design interface? In the case of python/tk or perl/tk, I have
never seen a drag-and-drop GUI builder.
It exists for matlab. But here the issue is licensing.
What about Qt? python/Qt and such?
What is the status of the java-based epics office?
How difficult/easy is it to develop GUIs?
Anything else I should be considering?
Is anyone using IN PRODUCTION something else than epics/(m)edm?
What about compiled GUI in matlab?
Thank you for your insight,
