Hi guys,
I recently started trying to read out some Basler GigE cameras with the areadetector module. What I want to do is mainly having a camera image and extracting the widths and position of (laser) beams impinging on these cameras.
We are using Debian wheezy and I have installed the latest epics package (including epics-areadetector, epics-areadetector-dev) using the NSLS repository. After searching how to get the Basler camera working with the areadetector I stumbled over the files from the Diamond Light Source. It looked to me that they have a step-by-step guide and I thought this might help. I downloaded the files from the DLS and was kind of quick in installing the aravis driver. I had a few issues with glib but after reading and tweaking the config files I managed that part. Having arv-tool-0.2 displaying the Basler cameras (along with Fake_1) was already a good sign but here the issues started. I somehow cannot compile the exampleApp since I'm missing libnetCDF.a. I read that for the areadetector module this file is needed but I do not have it and there seems to be no source file for it.
Now I'm wondering if I'm doing something completely wrong and should start from scratch again. I also feel somehow lost in the (typically) not so well documented world of epics. I really tried to gather some hints from all the sites using epics but that didn't work too well.
Any help considering this issue is highly appreciated.
Cheers,
Flo
