Applications/Controls Engineer (I-6) / Advanced Applications/Controls Engineer (I-7) - 24 month term
This position provides support for motion control, anxillary I/O, end station instrumentation, and detector integration for the construction of NSLS-II beamlines.
The successful candidate will provide support for the design, implementation, integration, and commissioning of instrumentation for the beam lines and experimental end stations. The position requires the engineer
to provide motion control using the Delta Tau motion controllers, PLC programming in the Allen Bradley PLCs, detector integration using area Detector, and integration of all signals into EPICS.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- BS degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related discipline
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of industrial instrumentation and motion control solutions
- Knowledge of programming in C/C++/Python
- Software development in UNIX
- Knowledge of instrumentation, PLCs, or industrial controls
- Ability to work with a diverse group of technical team members.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Demonstrated skills in EPICS V3 and RTEMS/vxWorks
- Knowledge of the Delta Tau motor controller and Allen Bradley PLC programming
- Experience in data acquisition
- Ability to tuning and troubleshoot motor controls
