Hi Jörn,
I don't know anyone using PICam on Linux with areaDetector, but hopefully someone is, and can help you.
If you get stuck then I do have a lot of experience controlling PIXIS cameras with areaDetector using the ADLightField driver on Windows. That is working reliably for us.

Subject: AreaDetector ADPICam driver question
Hello,
I'm currently in the process of setting up the areaDetector driver for a
PrincetonInstruments PIXIS detector using Linux.
I have downloaded the latest PICam SDK from Princetons FTP server. But Failed
to get it working.
Has anybody done that before? Which version was used under Windows for the
development?
I have tested version 5.2.1 and 5.3.3. The older version reports
Camera Lost: PIXIS-XF: 2048B - device 0x0
While the newer one fails already at opening of the camera with
"Unknow error"!
Regards,
Jörn
