You need to distinguish between DBD files that a support module publishes for other modules and IOCs to use (these should never themselves include base.dbd nor DBD files from other modules) and DBD files for test IOCs which support modules may also build and install (these must include base.dbd and anything else that the test IOC needs). Don't mix the two. In synApps modules a …Support.dbd file is one for other modules to include, so to use autoSave for example you would use asSupport.dbd, not as.dbd since the latter has already included base.dbd.
