Hello,

We have exactly the same goals in our institute

We’ve planned to include developments in our R&D first to make a POC on those 2 features.

For point 2 :

-          Development of  a specific EPICS IOC  that publish Archived value (request on Appliance) under historical PV named PVNameHist for example

-          Duplicate a bob or opi file and replace all the pvName with corresponding pvNameHist

-          The EPICS IOC will have command to “time travelling” step by step and a PV will available to display the corresponding timestamp

For point 1 :

-          Before launching the specific IOC , we want to start the Archiving on all the PV referenced in OPI or BOB file, if it’s not already done through an Appliance request.

All the development will be integrated as an Application in Phoebus.

But because a lack of time, we don’t start yet the development.

If in the future, we have something to test, I can inform you, if you are interested.

Best regards,

Objet : Automatically populating the Archive Appliance

Hi all,

We're considering how to do archiving in the future and would like to see what others are doing. We have a couple of goals we would like to achieve:

  1. Automatically archive all the scalar PVs that appear on a screen
  2. Have a "time travelling" view for our OPI screens that allow us to step back in time and view historical data instead of live PVs

It occurred to us that 1. could be achieved by adding info tags to any records that would appear on a screen, then something in the reccaster/recreceiver/channelfinder stack could update the archiver appliance. Has anyone done this or something similar that updates the archiver appliance automatically when an IOC boots?

We also wondered if anyone had implemented something like 2. for any display manager?

Thanks,

Tom
