My 2 cts...

The design and technology behind the sequencer are old. Nothing to brag about, hasn't been buzzword-compatible for decades.

But:
Its unit test coverage is the highest of all tools in the EPICS shed.
Its user and reference manuals are by far the best and most complete of all EPICS tools.
(Big shoutout to Benjamin Franksen at HZB for these two things!)

For me, it's a bit like a vintage car: an oldtimer, but polished and in excellent shape.

Oh, yes, ITER. We're suggesting the Sequencer/SNL as our standard solution for implementing state machines in the EPICS layer. I guess we're doomed to support it for 30 or so more years.
