Hi Merrill—

Are both of your IOCs running on the same computer, and are you using that server’s IP address to specify the CA address list for your Phoebus configuration?

I suspect the problem may be your channel access network configuration. See https://docs.epics-controls.org/en/latest/sys-admin/configure-ca.html for "Multiple IOCs on the same computer”.

The simplest solution is to specify a broadcast address instead. I believe the relevant phoebus preference is "org.phoebus.pv.ca/addr_list"

Hello Everyone,

I am working on setting up the Phoebus alarm-server for the Mu2e
experiment.

I have a simulated EPICS IOC that I use to develop a Phoebus
alarm-server (this includes setting up zookeeper and kafka).  I have
been able to successfully set up the alarm server for one large
sub-system, but when I add a second large sub-system I get
"UNDEFINED/Disconnected" messages for process variables on the alarm
tree and "UNDEFINED" for these process variables in the alarm table.  If
I include just one of these large subsystems I do not get these
messages.  Messages from the alarm-server itself says "connection timed
out" for the channels.  If I type "ls" in the alarm-server terminal,
these alarm topics say "UNDEFINED" . Meanwhile a "caget"of channels from
EPICS (the simulated IOC) gives values that I had set previously before
starting the alarm-server and Phoebus.

Can anyone provide a clue as to what I am not setting up correctly?

Thanks,
Merrill Jenkins
