There is a great deal of demand for on-line add and delete. I think a small
change can be made to allow hardware address modification on-line. Then spares
can be placed in the database. This may provide a little relief. However,
production machines need to have this add/delete capability.

A portable channel access server is planned as part of the channel access 
version 4 upgrade. The functional specs for version 4 are not yet finalized.

These are both long lead items that need support and direction to get off the
starting mark. Anyone that would like to support this issue (people or money -
opinions are welcome too) should unite and address this in the very near future.
I would think that a 12 month completion with dedicated resource is possible.
