-------->A short soapboxing:
IMHO this whole fiasco is due to a certain CRADA that provided NOTHING
to DOE in terms of $$, support, or additional functionality into
EPICS... unless ofcourse we want to BUY it back somehow.
--------> A proposal:
As far as a short term solution goes, I see no reason why we simply
can't provide an account/password to each site that is allowed access to
the source and let them have at it. Place the code on a stand-alone
machine sho that if the storage site is compromised... all they will get
is a free copy of some undocumented mess of code that even its writers
can barely keep running ;-)
For a long term solution, why are we not working on getting EPICS into
the public domain?
