pvGet i/o timeout |

In a new state sequence program I'm doing, I decided to test the
the return status for pvPut and pvGet against ECA_NORMAL (what a concept)
even though all the pv's are local to the crate. I was suprised to
see cases where pvGet returns 80, which ca_message translates as
"User specified timeout on IO operation expired".
What kinds of things can cause pvGet to return this status ?
