Subject: Automatic allocation of hardware addresses using Capfast

Hi,

I?m looking for a way to automate the allocation of hardware addresses to
records when using Capfast.

My application has about 150 I/O ?nodes?, with each node having up to 32 I/O
channels.

Using Capfast I?ve created a node symbol and can assign hierarchical names to
the records within a node using the ?PV? and ?set? facilities. This works fine,
the records within each instance of the symbol have unique names derived from
the ?set? property of that symbol.

The hardware addresses are a little more tricky. Allocation of addresses to node
instances follow quite simple rules, but unfortunately it cannot be done with
textual substitution. I guess it can be done with some sort of post processing
on either the edif or short report files though.

Has anybody done this sort of thing before or know of any dodges I can use in
Capfast?

Thanks, John.
