This is a note to let you all know that I have decided to accept a job
in Chicago. It is at a consulting firm named "Ganymede Corporation" that
I helped get started in January of '95.
My last day at Argonne will be Friday, September 13th.
This morning, I was poking about the GPIB driver source code and noticed
that the first thing in the change log is a note from myself. It was
the the day that I made my first "sccs delta" to any of the EPICS source.
The date on the note is Friday, September 13, 1991.
That driver is (was) a bit of a pain in my backside and viewed (at least
by myself) as a mess. Yet, (exactly) 5 years later it still is a popular
part of EPICS.
I can only hope that history will repeat itself and that the same bad
luck, on the same Friday the 13th, will once again shine upon me. That
is, that I might be given the opportunity to start something that will
provide many years of work that is valuable and that (while I might gripe
about it from time to time) I enjoy doing. (If you need me on Friday, I
will be on the experimental floor, walking under ladders.)
Keep them particles moving!

P.S. Bill McDowell and set up an STA that will allow me back 'in the fence'
once in a while if get lonely. My account will remain active at APS for a
while. I will still read me email here from time to time.
