Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
I've recently noticed that if I change the state strings in an MBBO
record I can apparently only use the new strings as a valid states by
opening a new CA client connection to the IOC -- I have to run cau/dm
again before the valid strings change. I can understand that a dm
choice button would only get the state strings once when the chennel
connects, but I was only doing get/put requests through cau (no
monitors) so I was surprised by the state string cacheing. Attempts to
set the record value using the new strings are rejected and the old
strings listed as legal values, and this persists for long-running
clients even when more recent clients can use the new strings.
Is this expected behaviour (3.12.2), and is the cacheing implemented in
the CA client library or in the server?
