Job Description:
The Bates Linear Accelerator Center is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer
to design and upgrade various beam line instrumentation systems at the
Bates Linear Accelerator Center. The primary responsibilities include
system design, hardware design, hardware selection, and integrating
the various systems into the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control
System (EPICS). The engineer will be working with other controls engineers,
programmers and Accelerator Physicists in the design, debugging and
operational phases of implementation. The individual for this position
must have good written and verbal communications skills, be able to work
independently with a minimal amount of supervision, and as a team member
in the EE Group.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other related
discipline and 3 years experience working in a real time controls environment
with VME hardware and using the VxWorks operating system. Digital design
experience, C and C++ programming experience is required. Analog design
experience would be beneficial. A working knowledge of Object Oriented
real time control systems are desirable. A familiarity with X-Windows,
Motif, graphical user interfaces, Windows NT, are also desirable. Being
on call and occasional shift work should be expected.
