We are using the Data Translation DT-1451 to process video
frames for use as telescope guider. Frame grabber speed is 1/30
second, we integrate every 10 frames, and find the centroid of a hot
spot (actually the image of the star used for guiding) within a small
region of interest.
I think the DT-1451's are fairly cheap - but DT doesn't officially
list them in their catalog. We also had to take their SunOS driver
software and port it to a Sparc 5 IOC. EPICS support is mostly in the
form of MOSUB records.
