I agree with your assessment of what happens to the VMS CA repeater in
the presence of the MULTINET bug you described. I also agree that the
CA repeater will be more robust when this (or other) IP kernel implementation(s)
fail(s) in a similar way if the changes you described are installed. I installed
your changes.
I should also add that I for one am sick and tired of strange CA
repeater problems showing up resulting from differences in IP kernel implementations.
Since almost all IP kernel implementations now include the IP multicast
enhancements it should be possible to perform CA connection management
functions without using the CA repeater on all of the commonly used OS.
I am looking into this.
