Dear Peregrine,
The sequences in EPICS are my favorite hammer. I have implemented several
complicated ones here at SLAC to control PEP-II injection. The detector, BABAR,
is making progress now and we'll soon be implementing the injection permissive
stuff, where we check-in with BABAR and await permission before beginning
injection.
In addition, our RF systems in PEP-II use sequences to process the stations at
turn-on, which is a kind of interlocked run permit situation.
If timing is very important, you can fetch the time stamps of when a record was
last processed to ensure fresh data.
