The latest indications are that the "attempt to unmanage child
when parent is not composite" problem is NOT solved. Mark Rivers
tells me it is still occuring on Digital UNIX (with the version that
is supposedly "fixed"). We will look at it next week and see if we
can determine what is happening.
This one is hard for me because it does not occur on either of the
platforms for which I have machines. It may well be a result of a
problem elsewhere in the code that is getting manifested here. It
apparently is not a simple problem.
As to getting email about MEDM problems, I prefer to get personal
mail with a good description of the problem, the versions, etc, and,
most importantly, the explicit steps to reproduce it. If I can
reproduce it, I can almost always fix it. It is easier to deal with
one person at a time.
On the other hand, in my opinion, most communication is good, and
tech-talk serves a useful purpose. I try to read tech-talk mail that
involves MEDM. Feel free to communicate problems as you see fit.
However, I don't think any more mail on this particular topic is
needed right now. Give us a chance to look at the problem where it
seems to be reproducible.
