Russ,
Currently the portable CA server and its support libraries are the only codes in the
EPICS base distribution that are implemented in C++. This software can be used to
export site specific data sources to EPICS clients. Note that modern versions of gnu
C include both a C and a C++ compiler. We have compiled all of EPICS base with
both GCC 2.7.2 and also GCC 2.8.1 here at LANL.
