If you are using the Hytec 2992 Serial Highway driver, you can use a Binary
Input,  MBBI,  or Long-In record with DTYP set to CAMAC.  LANL also has
device support for a few models of digital input module.

To minimize CAMAC I/O,  I use the Long In record with DTYP = CAMAC to get
all 24 bits.  Then,  through database links I use the VAL field to several
MBBI records,  where I can define (single or multiple) bit groups offset
from bit 1(lsb).
