I tried to interactively change EGUL for an ai record which produced
"funny" results. If my understanding after a little bit of
source-snooping is correct, this is what happens (I looked only at ai
records):

A change of EGUL affects both the slope and offset (ESLO and EOFF)
fields.
At record initialization, record support correctly copies prec->egul to
prec->eoff. IMHO device support should repeat this in the
special_linconv routine. None of the device support modules which we
used as model for our own developments did this.
