This is somewhat off the topic, but Eric's mention of "fancy
debugging tools", reminded me that I was curious:

  Has anybody tried using gdb on a unix machine to debug
a process on VxWorks?  I've managed to get halfway there,
but have not been entirely successful.  Seems like it
could be useful.
