Did you ever get an answer to this request?
I saved it because I meant to answer it and then it got lost
amongst a lot of other messages.
We had a need for
people to be asked for a password when going from a standard operator
screen to an expert screen. We did not want them to have to
log completely out of the desktop and log back in again as an expert.
What we did was to create a special
expert account whose login set up the proper environment,
then brought up the top level expert screen in background mode and
exited. Then in the operator screen calling the expert screen
we called that set up display permissions for the new user and then
brought up an xterm with a log in for the expert:
xterm -title "please login as llrf_expert" -e login llrf_expert
This is not perfect, because you need a separate user for each expert type,
but it works for us.
