So there's no need for threadInit() anymore? That's a good information.
Seems that there is really another reason for et_wish crashing.

Sorry I was not precise enough. I am already using beta1 and was only
referring to the Manual for alpha1 because this was what the web sold
me when I was looking for the threadInit() function.
