Jon,

There are several other ways of going about this.

1) Working within EDM it may be more natural to extend the 
function of the CALC PV (user specified computations) feature 
than to customize individual widgets. See the EDM Help 
function for details.

2) Combinations of the standard COMPRESSION record and
the WAVEFORM ANALYSIS record will also create what you
want - in the Database. The former is described in the Record
Reference Manual, the latter by a 1 March 2002 tech-talk
posting by its author, John Maclean.
