Observatory Sciences is a UK-based team of consultants, specialising in hardware and software systems for the control of telescopes and instruments used in space and astronomy. The Company is recruiting to fill vacancies for software engineers. The jobs will be based in either Cambridge or Sussex (Eastbourne). The successful applicant will work with the existing team of software specialists to design and implement software for control and data acquisition applications used by astronomical observatories and scientific laboratories. You will have experience of using EPICS and the C programming language to develop scientific or technical applications in a UNIX/Linux environment. Experience in vxWorks, the development of real-time software or large software systems would be advantageous. We would expect you to have a degree in an appropriate discipline and to be self motivated, analytical and inventive. Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential. Salaries will be commensurate with experience and qualification; specific on the job training will be provided as necessary.
