Along these same lines, I am also preparing to order some PPC boards. We
are currently using MVME-167 68k boards with VxWorks 5.4. These will be
our first PPC boards. At this point I am considering the MVME5100-0161
(MPC 750) or -2161 (MPC 7410), for which we've been quoted reasonable
prices. Is there information available on the expected long term
availability of the 5100? Any negative experience within the EPICS
community with this board or problems with the VxWorks BSP?
For a small lab, it helps to take advantage of larger facilities and the
community as a whole. Which processor boards are current large scale
projects (such as SNS) standardizing on? Are you staying with VxWorks,
are moving towards RTEMS for real-time applications? (We would also need
to upgrade or buy a new development kit from Windriver to move to PPC.)
Thanks,
