We are using the licensed versions of RedHat at the Advanced Light Source.
We are not happy with either the frequency of updates or the stability with
Matlab.

We've been using Debian for several years. As you say, most flavors should

We are starting to look at converting our EPICS control system from
Solaris 8 to Linux.
Has anyone in the EPICS community ever done a survey of who is using
Linux for EPICS, and what flavor/type of Linux they are using (RedHat,
Fedora, SuSI, Debian, Mandrake, etc).
I suspect that any of the major distributions can do the job. It would
seem to make the most sense for us to go with the flavor of Linux with
the largest user base in the EPICS community.
